What is your jewellery made from?

In common with most vintage costume jewellery, the main component is tin followed by lead, steel, brass, copper etc with a trace of nickel in some (just some) of the items.

The jewellery is then sealed with usually silver or gold plate (often double gold plated).

People who are allergic to nickel should be cautious but we have had very few people letting us know they have had an issue.

This is partly as the plating is so thick that any nickel present is so well coated and does not affect the surface - but you must decide. We cannot give any more info than this as we were not involved in the manufacturing process 30 years ago.

This information was provided by Renato who sill is the warehouse manager for the family properties - now in his 50s, he worked there since he was 15 years old and knows as much as anyone!

If you have do react to nickel or have sensitive skin, we would suggest you make sure you only wear our jewellery over clothes to be safe. We cannot tell you which jewellery does have nickel and which does not. More than 99% of people have no issues - but you may be the 1%.

Is your jewellery tarnish free?

The jewellery is 25-30 years old and has not tarnished so far... but as with any old jewellery it can tarnish, even though mostly it does not.  You should never wear in the shower or bath for example or spray any perfume/products on it.  That is same for all costume jewellery.
